Fig Tree Montessori is seeking an innovative educator with a passion for implementing methods that supports the wholesome development of children, including academics, character development, and a strong sense of personal identity. You must be open minded and willing to learn and develop and think outside the box of any pedagogy and method. While we seek a Montessori trained educator, we are open to sponsoring training for the right person. Along with the implementation of the Montessori method, we are looking for an educator who is willing to implement other methods such as Waldorf and project-based learning to meet the needs of a diverse body of learners and families.


This is a new environment in its second year of operation. You will be taking over an existing classroom and bringing in your unique touch.

Position: Lower Elementary Montessori Guide


Duties:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with educational standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Educate students in core subjects such as Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies while integrating technology into the classroom.
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and promotes positive behavior.
  • Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
  • Collaborate with parents, colleagues, and administration to create individualized learning plans for students requiring early intervention or additional support.
  • Mentor students in their personal development and encourage lifelong learning skills.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and innovations in teaching.

Job Requirements:

  • AMI Elementary Montessori Diploma -preferred-
  • MACTE-Approved Lower Elementary Montessori Diploma -required-
  • Willingness to dedicate time to complete AMI Elementary Montessori Diploma training if not already trained
  • Bachelor's degree - required- (foreign credentials must be evaluated by FLDOE-approved organizations)
  • Exceptional English Language Skills -required-
  • 1-5 years of experience in a Montessori Environment -preferred-
  • Respect of Islamic Teachings and Cultural Diversity of The Community (the community consists of people of different religious and cultural backgrounds and respect of the diversity of the community is of utmost importance.)

BENEFITS & SALARY:

  • Weekly 10 hours of office time (utilized for planning, meetings, record-keeping, and material-making).
  • Flexibility in work hours: 7:30-3:30, 8:00-4, or 8-4:30

WORK FAMILY (TEAM MEMBERS AND STAFF)

  • Remain open, flexible, and respectful in all communications with community members.
  • Develop a strong relationship with Assistant(s), supervising and coaching them towards classroom goals including care of the environment.
  • Support special instructors with curriculum alignment and implementation.
  • Communicate with assistants and engage them in planning and preparing the environment and special activities.
  • Maintain a respectful relationship and open communication.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and individual meetings with fellow staff members to address the needs of the community and supporting them in their roles as a leader/guide.
  • AMI Coach/Mentorship Support Per Need
  • Employee Tuition Discount (for staff with children).
  • $4,500K-$5,500/Month Salary (based on experience, credentials, and contract)

STUDENTS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Introduce Montessori lessons based on Montessori training and albums.
  • Prepare and maintain a beautiful, orderly classroom environment, ensuring furnishings and materials are complete and correspond to the needs of all children.
  • Model Grace & Courtesy in the classroom, and sustain positive relationships with each child.
  • Support each child’s progression in developmental activities through careful planning and record-keeping.
  • Ensure the safety and physical well-being of children at all times.
  • Observe with fresh eyes regularly, keep records of observations, and focus on areas of concern and progress.
  • Utilize work hours and weekly planning time effectively and efficiently.

PARENTS

  • Meet with parents when needed or requested to address concerns, or share updates related to the overall well-being of the child.
  • Communicate concerns and incidents accurately and in a timely manner when they occur.
  • Prepare, organize, and present Parent Education Events at least three times a year after school or on weekends when necessary.
  • Maintain current and accurate academic records through Transparent Classroom.
  • Facilitate two annual conferences; Fall & Spring, and three report cards; Fall, Winter, and Spring.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, responding to messages from parents/caregivers through email and Transparent Classroom.
  • Assist with Parent Engagement and Orientations throughout the year when necessary.
  • Plan and prepare for House Visits for new students and parents to introduce them to the environment.
  • Assist school administration in the interview process of potential new students during the Enrollment Period.
  • Plan and attend the program for your house’s End of Year Celebration.
  • Attend and facilitate at least 1 Open House for prospective parents every academic year.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Prepare and submit academic reports, attendance reports, classroom inventories, and other records on a regular schedule.
  • Communicate updates, absences, concerns, and challenges confidentially and in a timely manner.
  • Be open to internal and external support and growth opportunities from staff, administration, and external consultants.
  • Support the interview process for new assistants.
  • Complete annual Professional Development requirements.
  • Maintain daily attendance record on TransparentClassroom.
  • Meet regularly with school administration, and when needed or requested to address concerns, and collaborate regarding staff and children support.
  • Assist in shaping future policies and procedures that impact the school community in a respectful and collaborative fashion.

COMMUNITY

  • Respect the school's Dignity Code, and the School's Muslim Identity.
  • Adhere to school's employee and parent handbooks and policies, and maintain a healthy attendance record.
  • Attend staff meetings, Professional Development Days, Team-building activities, and other special meetings requested by administrators.
  • Protect the privacy and working atmosphere of the school, and promote healthy and positive relations throughout the community.
  • Support specialty programs, before/aftercare, drop-off/pick-up line, and planning when assigned by Administrators.
  • Adhere to AMI and FTM guidelines and professional standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
