Welcome to Fig Tree Montessori, where children are honored as whole human beings—mind, heart, body, and soul—and where their natural drive to grow, explore, and make meaning is carefully nurtured. Here, children engage in purposeful work that supports the development of their intellect and character, while adults serve as thoughtful guides who protect and respond to the child’s unfolding journey.

Fig Tree Montessori was born out of a community’s desire for an education that goes beyond academics—one that integrates the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of the child, and remains grounded in a deep sense of purpose and connection to Allah. We believe that learning is not about the accumulation of information, but about cultivating awareness, responsibility, and a way of being in the world.

Our mission is to create an environment where children can develop without unnecessary obstacles, allowing their fitra—their natural inclination toward truth and goodness—to flourish. We aim to nurture a love of learning while guiding children to become thoughtful, independent, emotionally aware, and grounded individuals. Rooted in tradition yet responsive to the realities of our time, we strive to offer an education that prepares children not only to succeed, but to live with clarity, purpose, and a deep connection to who they are and where they come from.

Our Guiding Principles

Family Centered Approach

We believe that our school is simply a supplement to the important work that you do as a parent. We believe in developing a partnership between parents and teachers. Parents are crucial to the development of their children and we aim to bridge the gap between home and school through parent education, involvement, and community building.

More than Just Academics

We don't just emphasize on the intellectual development of the child. Social development within a community context is highly emphasized. Children work in groups and learn to navigate social situations. Spiritual and emotional development is emphasized through connecting the learning to the bigger picture of the human story.

An Education for Life

Montessori doesn't just prepare children for a robust academic career, it provides an education for life. It prepares them to be lifelong learners and curious explorers. With an emphasis on working with the hand, heart, and mind, the education we offer is truly holistic. Children engage in care of the self, others, and the environment. Learning doesn't end in the classroom, it's a lifestyle!

An Education Centered Around Knowing Allah

Learning and education isn't for the purpose of collecting information. Instead, the purpose of education is for the child to know Allah. Every lesson, relationship, and experience is an opportunity to cultivate taqwa, a living awareness of Allah that informs how we think, act, and move through this life.

As children refine their intellect ('aql), engage their heart (qalb), and develop their self (nafs), knowledge becomes integrated in recognizing Allah in the world around them.

A Soul-Centered Approach

The child is more than just a body, they are a whole human being with a soul that cannot be ignored. When the child is seen as inherently good, what you do with the child changes drastically.

A soul-centered approach recognizes the human being as layered—body, intellect, heart, and soul—created with purpose and dignity. It acknowledges the primordial covenant with Allah and the fitra upon which every child is born: an original disposition inclined toward truth and goodness. When we see the child in this way, we do not seek to control or reshape them, but to nurture, guide, and protect what is already there.

Cultivating Beauty

How do we develop and cultivate a sense of awe when faced with the amazing signs of Allah all around us? Through beauty! Our classrooms are designed to reflect the natural order in the world that Allah created. It is through observing the beauty in the world around us, that we are able to see Allah's signs. From the plants and the animals to the patterns and cycles in nature. We honor this in the rhythms we create through the year and through the physical manifestations in our space.
